Hypnosis for Pain
Management
In the
words of Ron
Eslinger,
world-renowned
hypnotist and pain
specialist, "Pain
is soul stealing."
It prevents people
from enjoying their
lives and, worst of
all, it doesn't
need to be this
way. The National
Institutes of
Health Panel on
Pain has
acknowledged that
hypnosis is
effective in
alleviating chronic
pain associated
with various
cancers. There is
also a substantial
and growing body of
evidence that
hypnosis can assist
greatly in the
management of
chronic pain, such
as that associated
with irritable bowl
syndrome,
fibromyalgia, tic
douloureux (trigeminal
neuralgia),
arthritis, and
tension
headaches.
In
2000, the Joint
Commission for
Accreditation of
Healthcare
Organizations
(JCAHO) recognized
hypnosis as a
complementary pain
management therapy
which would also
help maintain the
dignity and the
well being of the
client, without
dependence on large
quantities of
medication.
Hypnosis is
evidence-based.
Hypnosis works!
"I was amazed to
see that not only
was Mr. Patterson
able to reduce my
client's discomfort
through hypnosis,
he was actually
able to completely
anesthetize my
client so that he
didn't feel any
irritation during
the
procedure."
